Review: Vanish by Sophie Jordan

Title: Vanish
Author: Sophie Jordan
Format: eGalley(from NetGalley)
Pages: 198
Genre: YA Fiction/Fantasy
Stand-Alone or Series: Series

Summary(from GoodReads):
   To save the life of the boy she loves, Jacinda did the unthinkable: She betrayed the most closely-guarded secret of her kind. Now she must return to the protection of her pride knowing she might never see Will again—and worse, that because his mind has been shaded, Will’s memories of that fateful night and why she had to flee are gone.
   Back home, Jacinda is greeted with hostility and must work to prove her loyalty for both her sake and her family’s. Among the few who will even talk to her are Cassian, the pride’s heir apparent who has always wanted her, and her sister, Tamra, who has been forever changed by a twist of fate. Jacinda knows that she should forget Will and move on—that if he managed to remember and keep his promise to find her, it would only endanger them both. Yet she clings to the hope that someday they will be together again. When the chance arrives to follow her heart, will she risk everything for love?
   In bestselling author Sophie Jordan’s dramatic follow-up to Firelight, forbidden love burns brighter than ever.

 My Thoughts:
        You know how with some series the second book isn't as good as the first? That wasn't the case with Vanish. I. Loved. This. Book. Yes, I know that isn't a proper sentence, but that's how much I enjoyed this book.
      Vanish seemed to fly by even faster than Firelight. There was so much action & suspense. Not to mention romance & more than a few twists. I wish I could have made the book last longer but I couldn't help it; I had to know what happened next. I'll admit, I did keep hitting the next page button on my Nook hoping for more. Unfortunately, when it says 198 pages . . . it means it.
      Jacinda was an even better main character in this book than she was in the previous one. It just seemed like she stood up for herself more, was more take charge. I also liked Tamra a LOT more in this one. She didn't spend the whole book whining & feeling sorry for herself. Then you have Will & Cassian. *sighs* Will & Cassian . . . I don't think I could ever decide between them. Maybe some type of timeshare concept . . . lol I really do love both characters though, so I'll just wait and see what happens in the next book.
      The look into draki life was interesting. We didn't really get a good feel for it in Firelight, so it was nice to have it in Vanish. Be forewarned Vanish ends on a cliffhanger every bit as big as the one at the end of Firelight.

      So far I love this series & I can't wait to see what Sophie has in store for us with the next one. If you can get your paws on Firelight & Vanish I highly recommend you do so.
